I really appreciated the knowledgeable guidance of Richard, Butch & his wife too. Things don't always happened as planned, so those who come prepared and look after the well-being of the whole group, can take an otherwise unexpected adventure and turn it into something meaningful and worthwhile for everyone! Look forward to keeping in touch them. They were great company & great teachers.
This is the most beautiful section of the OT in my mind.Current River section 141-148.I will hike 4 miles from Powder mill and camp by Indian Creek.I hope people will attend this. The view is marvelous.I will post pics and a map
If anyone has any questions my phone number is on my profile.Nobody showed on the last hike.
By the way this would be a good hike to bring a fishing pole
Andrew- thanks for the suggestion - I will bring a pole. Also, I just got a new hi flow Sawyer water filter. I'm not sure how accessible water is so I'm bringing it.
water is very abundent and very clean. It is all spring fed.

We will come to one of the biggest springs in missouri

I'm preparing for a summer backpack trip
I'm still in but need to know what type of waterproof gear is needed. Will dri duck suit & hiking boots suffice or are we wading thru knee-high water? Thx
I'm not for sure what a duck suit is.I'm brining a poncho.we shouldnt have to wade in to deep of water.but you can bring water shoes to be on the safeside
It may be warm enough to swim
Looking forward to my first event with the club. This will be my wife's first overnighter. Will be a good shake down cruise for the summer.
Still definitely in. Mrs P- My opinion is that you would be just fine with just the rain jacket- It isn't really cold or forecasted to be wet enough to need the pants but you might want to some fleece for the morning. I'm not expecting to wade just to follow the trail but might just for fun later. I hope you've gotten some advice on gear. There are some good lists on REI's site and elsewhere on what's needed for an overnighter. Don't overpack but don't skimp and be uncomfortable!
BTW, I'm driving down from St. Louis (West County) on Saturday morning- leaving around 7:00- if anybody wants to ride and share gas. Interesting! The shortest route on Google maps is 55 south to hwy 67 to Farmington and connect to Hwy 21.
Richard, depending on what time we're leaving on Sunday I may want to commute w/you. I also live in West County (Ballwin). Andrew, any indication what time we're hiking back on Sunday? Thx
Btw, I did get some advice from Andrew on gear + I found some really good deals at Uncle Sam's in Manchester. If anyone's doing last minute shopping U Sam's has a lot of camping stuff on sale right now.
I would love to pay to ride along its me plus a guest
Richard is picking me up & he's driving so connect w/him if you can tonight
Ok im heading out at 6 am to powder mill trailhead hope to see every one
Sorry I saw Andrew's note late today. Andrew, I was going to leave out around seven. You can send me an email and if you still want a ride (I have a van and can easily hold 2 more) we can tentatively meet at the coomuter lot at 141 and 44.
See every body there
